Education

Mr. Pantelis Xenophontos graduated from the University College of Osteopathy in London the oldest Osteopathic College in Europe and has undergone further training in Medical Acupuncture. He practiced in various clinics in London where he founded the PXOsteopathy and Sports Injury Clinic in 2014, www.pxosteopathy.com

His passion for sports led him to continue his studies in the field of sports medicine. He completed a Master’s degree in Sports Medicine, Exercise, and Health from the University College London (UCL), one of Europe’s most renowned universities in the field of medicine in Europe.

Mr. Xenophontos recently moved to Cyprus and joined the EIMC clinic.

 

Specialization

Osteopathy involves clinical care of the neuro-musculoskeletal system, which comprises the bones, muscles, nerves, and other tissues that support your body and control its movements.

Osteopaths use your individual medical history and environmental factors to understand the root cause of your pain to develop a personalized plan to help you manage your pain and move better.

He offers Osteopathic treatment which may involve any combination of Manual Therapy (manipulation, mobilization, neuromuscular techniques, soft tissue massage), Therapeutic Needling Techniques, and Clinical Exercise programs. The treatment is tailored to each individual and is encouraged through advice on posture, lifestyle, and aid to stress-related problems. This clinical advice aims to help patients understand the nature of their problems so that they can return to their everyday activities as soon as possible.

 

Experience

During his osteopathic training, he worked as part of the university’s community clinics that offer treatment for those having pain and musculoskeletal injuries in Elderly homes, GP surgeries, Homeless facilities, and the Royal Free Hospital (London).

He had the opportunity to work closely with elite athletes competing in track & field and endurance events. Some have represented their countries in the Olympic Games of RIO 2016. Participated in a number of events offering track-side cover including the London Indoor Games, England U23&U20 Championships & the European Trials and he was part of the medical team that traveled with the athletes for their international training camp.

He has also provided mentorship and support to osteopathy students and got invited as an external examiner in final year osteopathy student exams.

His patients range from office workers and fitness enthusiasts to pregnant women and the elderly. He regularly treats and manages patients who like to exercise and participate in sports, including running (marathon), cycling, dancing, Crossfit, tennis, martial arts, and football.

It is against the law to call yourself an osteopath unless you are qualified and registered with the Cypriot Osteopathic Council.
