Marina Paschalidou MD, Ph.D

Marina Paschalidou graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a B.S. in Neurology and is a holder of a Ph.D. thesis from the A.U.Th.
She trained at the National Hospital in London in the Department of Clinical Neurochemistry under the direction of E. Thompson, with the main subject being the investigation of the Cerebrospinal Fluid and the determination of the oligoclonal breakdown of IgG in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and other neurological diseases.
She worked as a Specialist Neurologist at the 2nd University Neurological Clinic, A.U.Th. from 1986 – 2010, the clinic was part of the National Health System (NHS), and she retired with the rank of Director of the NHS.
Her services included general neurology, training of medical students, psychology students, and neurology specialists.

In 1986 she established and supervised the operation of the Cerebrospinal Fluid Investigation Laboratory, focusing on determining oligoclonal IgG as a diagnostic indicator in MS and differentiating other neurological diseases.
From 1996 to 1998, she worked in the research unit of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING) on MS and continued collaborating with the Department of Molecular Virology of ING on the investigation of viruses in MS.
She is a founding member of the Hellenic Society of MS Patients, responsible for organizing, monitoring, investigating, and treatment protocols for MS patients.
She organized inter-hospital scientific conferences on the differential diagnosis of autoimmune, demyelinating, and other diseases.
She was involved in several research projects, including the study of hormones and thyroid function in MS in collaboration with the Department of Endocrinology at the 1st University Pathology Clinic AHEPA, Thessaloniki, Greece.
She also collaborated with the AHEPA University Ophthalmology Clinic, to study optic nerve disorders and applied optical coherence tomography (OCT) in optic nerve diseases.
She conducted a study on the psycho-emotional profile of patients with MS in collaboration with psychiatric departments of hospitals in Thessaloniki and the Department of Psychology of A.U.Th (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) with the aim of psychotherapeutic management of patients.
Additionally, she collaborated with the Hematology Laboratory of the Agios Pavlos Hospital of Thessaloniki to study vitamin B12, folic acid, and homocysteine in neurological diseases, with the goal of restoring any related disorders.

Stelios Karayiannides MD, Ph.D

Stelios Karayiannides was born in 1979 in Nicosia. He graduated from the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2006 and pursued his specialization in Sweden. He obtained the title of Specialist in Internal Medicine in 2012 and Specialist in Endocrinology and Diabetes, in 2014.

He worked as a specialist Endocrinologist-Diabetologist at Danderyd Hospital in Stockholm and the Endocrinology Clinic at Karolinska Hospital in Solna (Stockholm). Since 2018, he has been working at the Academic Specialist Center for Diabetes in Stockholm, a model reference center for the care of all types of Diabetes.

This center is a development of the Diabetes Department of the Endocrinology Clinic at Karolinska University Hospital in Solna (Stockholm).

 

Concurrently, he conducted and completed his Ph.D. thesis in 2022, exploring the impact of diabetes and glucose metabolism disorders on patients with cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction and atrial fibrillation. The Swedish Diabetes Society awarded his thesis the Best Thesis of the Year 2022 for Diabetes in Sweden. He has presented several papers at various European conferences such as the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) conferences. Additionally, the findings from his research activity have been published in reputable international medical journals. He was also invited as a speaker at conferences of the Swedish Society of Endocrinology and the Swedish Society of Diabetes. He is one of the lecturers for the courses of Endocrinology-Diabetetology for medical students at Karolinska University.

 

He is a member of the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE), the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), the Swedish Society of Endocrinology, and the Swedish Society of Diabetology.

Education

Mr. Pantelis Xenophontos graduated from the University College of Osteopathy in London, the oldest Osteopathic College in Europe, and underwent further training in Medical Acupuncture. His passion for sports led him to continue his studies in the field of sports medicine. He completed a master’s degree in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health from the University College London (UCL), one of the most renowned universities in the field of medicine in Europe.
He practiced in various clinics in London where he founded the PXOsteopathy and Sports Injury clinic in 2014.
He had the opportunity to work closely with elite athletes competing in track & field and endurance events, some of which have represented their countries in the Olympic Games of RIO 2016. EDUCATION:

Dr. Stelios Orphanides graduated from the Medical University of Malta in 2006. He then returned to Cyprus, where he received a license to practice.

He moved to Sweden where he completed his specialty in Geriatrics at the Södra Älvsborg Hospital. During his training he worked regularly at the Osteoporosis Clinic and was successful in the ISCD (International Society of Clinical Densitometry) exams thus obtaining the title of CCD (Certified Clinical Densitometrist) which allows him to investigate and accurately interpret radiology findings and then recommend the appropriate treatment for Osteoporosis. Dr. Orphanides also holds an MSc in Dementia from the University Hospital Karolinska in Sweden and has been awarded the title of ‘Silvialäkare’ (Doctor of Queen Sylvia of Sweden) which is the highest title awarded for work done in the field of dementia in Sweden.
